White Pine Bookclub

by felloweslibrary

Several avid readers read all ten books on the White Pine list this year: Patty Scase, Alycia Morden, Caleb Spilchen, Hannah Hall, Victoria White, Miranda Doering and Jessica Adams. Hannah Hall won the white Roots hoody donated by Mr. Baird and presented by Mr. Baird. 36 students registered for the White Pine club this year. 24 students read at least 5 of the 10 books which made them eligible to vote for the book they thought deserved to be the White Pine winner for 2010. This is a wonderful book club for grade 9 students to join as they meet people from all grade levels and become familiar with the Library’s resources.

The Novel Ideas

by felloweslibrary

The Novel Ideas bookclub held its last meeting of the year on June 4th. Not all members were able to attend but those who did enjoyed a lovely lunch prepared by Freddies Cafe and provided by Ms Gleason.
Mrs Poirier presented Jessica Adams with the hoody sweatshirt provided by Mr. Baird to the student who read all ten books on the list. Congratulations Jessica.
Megan Prescott, Krystyna Spilchen, and Alycia Morden each won a novel.
If you are a senior student in the fall of 2009, consider becoming a Novel Ideas member. The titles are usually by well known Canadian authors and are often award winning books. Many of these books appear on English reading lists at University, so get a head start. Join us.

The draw for the Roots hoody for members of the White Pine reading club who have read all 10 books on the reading list will be held next week. Please see Ms Gleason for details.

FHS Library Blog

by felloweslibrary

Welcome to Fellowes High School Library Blog.
We have recently catalogued several new books and put them into circulation for our readers. I welcome comments about the books i.e ___ was a great book. It had lots of action and some romance Or this book was disappointing.

I welcome suggestions you have for book titles. As long as it is appropriate for a high school library and we have the funds available, I will purchase the books.

The top Ten Patron list for 2008/2009  is out. Julie Surprenant holds the top spot this year at 232 books read this year. Well done, Julie. Other top readers are Robbie Ethier, Megan Mcwhirter, Lindsay Hammel,Rebecca Green, Jacob Baisley, Elizabeth Deruchie, Amberly Krieger, Krystyna Spilchen, Raine Flexhaug and Lisa Vanooyen.

The Novel Ideas Book Club will hold its final meeting of the year in the Library Seminar Room on June 4th. Lunch is provided by Ms. Gleason. If you are a member and have received an invitation, please RSVP by Tuesday, June 2.

All library materials are due back in the Library by June 12.
